Slim Down with Medieval Monks' Potion
The ongoing investigation into the hospital site at Soutra has revealed the remains of the bitter vetch plant, which medieval monks are believed to have used to stave off hunger pains. By ingesting only a few of these tiny tubers, folk would feel no need to eat or drink. The effect of the appetite suppressant could last for weeks, or even months. Modern researchers are looking into the possibility of developing a diet pill from the bitter vetch plant.
