February 3 in Medieval History

Friday February 3, 2006
On February 3, 1461, the brave young Edward, Earl of March, led the Yorkists in a sound victory over the Lancastrians at the Battle of Mortimer's Cross. Only eighteen and still grieving for his slain father, Edward nevertheless kept a cool head and demonstrated remarkable skill as a military leader. Four months later, he would be crowned King Edward IV. Find out what else happened on February 3 through our This Date in Medieval History resource.
