Killed by Saladin more than 800 years ago upon the capture of Jacob's Ford, the earliest known Templar Knights were recently uncovered by archaeologists near the River Jordan in northern Israel. This significant find is being hailed by one historian as "the equivalent of the Holy Grail." For more information, check out the article at The Daily Telegraph.

In addition, see the forum post by our forum regular Melisende with more information from the Herald Sun of Melbourne, Australia. Thanks, Melisende!

A more detailed article appeared in my daily newspaper in Australia on Monday 10th April 2006. It was also reported in that same article that 800 bodies were discovered in the castle’s cistern, which archaeologists would begin examining.

Wow! That’s a lot of bodies. Does your paper have an online edition we could check out?

Thanks for the info!

Unfortunately, that story does not have an online link – however, the article next to it concerning the discovery of a 300yo book bound with human skin does!

I kept the news artcile and can post verbatim through forums – or email to you for posting.
