Who's Who This Week: Ibn Khaldun

Monday January 22, 2007
He was a diplomat, a teacher, a philosopher and a historian whose travels in North Africa and Spain brought many adventures. He wrote one of the most significant philosophies of history ever set to paper, and he is considered the greatest Arab historian as well as the father of sociology and the science of history. He is Abu Zayd 'Abd al-Rahman ibn Khaldun (Ibn Khaldun, for short), and he's our featured individual from Who's Who for the week of January 22.

(The image of Ibn Khaldun on a Tunisian postage stamp is in the public domain.)
