Because the Middle Ages cover a great expanse of time and quite a lot of territory, it's not a simple matter to answer the question, "What was life like in medieval times?" But these books go a long way toward offering a satisfactory reply. Focusing on specific aspects of life in specific places and at fairly specific time periods, they all provide enlightening windows to life 500 years or so ago.
