Women's History Month

March is Women's History Month in the U.S., a celebration of ordinary and extraordinary women through the ages. Since medieval history is characterized by warfare, the growth and power of the papacy, knightly orders and other subjects generally associated with men, it's easy to overlook the roles that women have played in the time period. But to do so would be to miss out on an important aspect of medieval society, as well as some fascinating stories and extraordinary individuals.
