Graveyard in the Basement
Wednesday March 7, 2007
An Icelandic family attempting to increase the size of their basement uncovered a skull in the process -- evidence of a graveyard which may date as far back as the Middle Ages. Soffía Benjamínsdóttir, who lives in the house, doesn't appear to mind living on top of a graveyard, although she is eager to be able to resume the renovation. When she wondered, "Isn’t it like this in every other house? Our ancestors are all buried somewhere," I have to say "No." Perhaps because our house doesn't have a basement (too many "varmints" in this neck of the woods), but also . . . hasn't she seen Poltergeist?
