A landmark museum celebrating the history of Jewish life in Poland over the last millennium will open in central Warsaw in two years. Said President Lech Kaczynski, who broke ground for the museum with Jewish leaders Tuesday, "[T]he history of Polish Jews is a part of the history of my country ... and demands remembrance." In the Middle Ages, Poland was for a time a formidable power, and a large population of Jews flourished there.
