Reconstructions & Replicas at Sea
Thursday July 19, 2007
This week there are two items of interest for fans of Viking ships. First, the reconstructed Havhingsten fra Glendalough (Sea Stallion from Glendalough) has completed its journey from Denmark back "home" to Dublin, where the original ship was probably built, using Scandinavian shipbuilding methods, in about 1042. Get the scoop in the item at Dublin People. And second, a far-out and, hopefully, far-sailing replica of a Viking ship made from ice cream sticks has completed a test voyage across the Netherlands' IJsselmeer lake. An article, pictures and video are available at NEWS.com.au.
