April

Tuesday April 1, 2008
Spring has sprung here in central Texas, and I'm enjoying a multitude of wildflowers in our own front yard. In the Middle Ages, spring was a time to gather flowers, as well; it was also a good time to plan a future with your spouse-to-be. In this detail from the calendar page for April of Les Très Riches Heures du Duc de Berry, you can see a young couple exchanging betrothal rings. Visit the page for April in our Les Très Riches Heures Image Gallery to see maidens picking flowers, and which castle rises beyond the happy figures.
