Summer Reading: Becoming Charlemagne

Wednesday June 25, 2008
Most of the books I've read about early medieval Europe in the past few years have been weighty tomes, filled with deep scholarship and significant information, and as dry as sand. Jeff Sypeck's Becoming Charlemagne: Europe, Baghdad, and the Empires of A.D. 800 cannot be so described. Find out why I recommend this for summer reading in this review. And don't forget -- if you've got a good book to recommend for summer reading, drop on by our forum to share it with us!
