Archaeologists excavating the grounds of Scone Palace have revealed parts of an abbey thought to have once housed the Stone of Destiny (the "Stone of Scone"), upon which all the kings of Scotland were crowned. Sculpture fragments and skeletal remains were among the items uncovered. The abbey was run and occupied by Augustinian canons until the Protestant Reformation; its last visible remains were demolished in the 17th century.
