Brian Boru |
|
Starting as king of the Dál gCais and Munster, Boru conquered and acquired much of Ireland, becoming High King in 1002. He died in his 70's during the Battle of Clontarf when a band of enemies stumbled across his tent, overcame his bodyguard, and hacked him to pieces. |
