1414:

Pope Sixtus IV

As pope, Sixtus effectively made the papacy an Italian principality and instigated the construction of the Sistine Chapel.

1476:

Jacopo Nardi

Throughout his career as a soldier and politician, Nardi was opposed to the Medici family. He became a principal supporter of Savonarola, and wrote a History of the City of Florence that criticized the Medici and provides invaluable details of fifteenth-century Florentine politics.

1515:

Saint Philip Neri

Called the "Apostle of Rome," Neri was a mystic who founded the Congregation of the Oratory.
