Magellan Sets Sail Across the Pacific

Having discovered the strait that now bears his name, Magellan entered the "Sea of the South" (the Pacific) and began what would be, for him, the last leg of his journey. Although he died in the Philippines, his crew would succeed in circumnavigating the globe without him.
