I can't find what I'm looking for. Can you direct me to a useful website?
I would be happy to help you find what you're looking for. But before you email me with your request, please take a close look at our
subject index (the top level is shown at the left side of every page of our site). I have spent thousands of hours compiling several hundred pages of links on a wide variety of subjects, and I continue to add to this directory on a regular basis. Chances are very good that the information you seek can be found from here.
Please note that our directory is multileveled; this means that the first link you click will often take you to a second directory of sub-pages, and this second directory may lead to a third. These sub-pages will lead to informative sites on the web and helpful pages right here at the Medieval History site.
If the right page isn't readily apparent in our index, please try
searching the site (and please try to use correct spelling!). It will take only a few moments, and it's a lot quicker and easier than emailing your Guide and waiting for a reply.

Will you add a link to my site in your directory?
If your site has useful historical content pertaining to the middle ages, I would be happy to add a link! You can use the
Suggest a Site page to submit your website for consideration. Please read the linking policy before submitting.

What's the deal with these frames and "featured links"?
About.com uses a navigational frame to help you find your way back to us when our links lead you out to the net. You can bookmark and print as you normally would, as long as you click in the lower frame first; or, you can remove the frame if you prefer. For more about frames, please see
our page on the subject.

Please don't frame my website!
    You got it!
Send me the name and URL of your website and, just as importantly, the name of the page in our directory that links to it, and we'll work out an arrangement that suits you.

Please link only to the front page of my site.
It is the policy of the Medieval History site not to link to "flash screens" (pages that act as a "front door" but serve no purpose but to show a pretty picture and provide a link to the rest of the site). If you do not wish me to deep link to your site, I will remove the link, but I will not link to your flash screen. You may wish to consider providing a link to your flash screen on interior pages for those visitors who are not pressed for time and would enjoy the fancy tech show.
It is also our policy to link directly to a page that is specifically related to the subject index that links to it. In other words, if your site has pages on the Hundred Years War, the Wars of the Roses and the Russian Revolution, I'll link to your HYW page from our HYW index and to your Roses page from our WOFTR index. I will not link to your Russian Revolution page, because that's not medieval; and I will not link to the home page of your website, because that would not be the best way to serve our visitors (who, you might imagine by now, are my first priority).
A good webmaster will provide navigation links on every page of his site, so that no matter where a visitor enters he can find his way to the other items the site has to offer. Site authors will also put all pertinent information, or links to such information, relating to the content of the page on that page. In other words, references, credits, and related topics should all be either placed on the page itself or linked to from the page. If you are unwilling to do this, I will remove the link that offends you, but I will not link to the front page of your site.

One of your links doesn't work. What do I do?
If you get no response when you click on a link, if a message pops up telling you that the site cannot be reached at this time, or even if you get a notice that the server has no DNS entry, please try the link again later. These problems are almost always caused by heavy traffic on the web, damaged or overtaxed phone lines, or the temporary absence of the file server from the net.
If a link takes you to a page telling you the site has moved (or gives you a 404 Not Found error), and if you'd like to notify me, please feel free. I'd appreciate it if you'd include the name or URL of the page where the link resides. And thanks!

Can I link to the Medieval History site?
Yes! You may link to any page of the Medieval History site without asking my permission. You can use one of
these graphics as a link, but it's not required. If you get a chance, please send me the URL of your site so I can check it out. And thanks!
