For future reference, there is also a handy little subscription box on the left-hand side of every page of this site, and a newsletter link in the gray bar at the top of every page. And thank you for subscribing!

How do I unsubscribe?
    Go to
this page, type your email address in the first box, and click "submit." For future reference, you can reach this option from our regular subscription page, which you can find by clicking the newsletter link in the gray bar at the top of every page of this site.
If for any reason you are unable to visit the unsubscribe page, email me with a request and I will unsubscribe you.
Please do not send rude or profane demands to be unsubscribed!! I use a filter on my email program that automatically diverts messages with such content to the trash. I'll never see your demand, and you'll still be subscribed.

How do I change the address the newsletter is sent to?

Have I missed any newsletters?
Our newsletter goes out every Thursday morning at 5 a.m. Eastern time (No, I'm not an early-bird -- I set up the newsletter and it's sent automatically.). It may take a few hours to get to you. If you subscribed before the most recent Thursday and you haven't gotten a newsletter yet, then yes, you've missed a newsletter, and you should check our next question.

I'm subscribed, but I haven't received your newsletters. What's wrong?
If you use an AOL address, your software may be filtering our newsletters. Set your email preferences to accept mail from the About.com domain and to accept images. If you still have difficulty, consider signing up for a
free online email account, and subscribe to our newsletter using that address.
If you use a WebTV address, you probably won't be able to receive our newsletter. You may be able to use a free online email account instead.
If you do not use an AOL or WebTV address, chances are you're not really subscribed. Be sure to examine your email filtering software, and please feel free to subscribe again.

My email program accepts HTML, but I don't like the HTML version of your newsletter. Can I get a plain-text version?
    Go to
this page, type your email address in the second box, and click "submit." You will be unsubscribed from the HTML version and subscribed to the plain text version. For future reference, you can reach this option from our regular subscription page, which you can find by clicking the newsletter link in the gray bar at the top of every page of this site.
