This intense drama follows the progress of Anne Boleyn's stormy relationship with King Henry VIII and the implications it had for England. Richard Burton is powerful as the willful Henry, whose desire for a male heir led him to divorce his wife in favor of the beautiful young woman whom he believed could give him a son. Genevieve Bujold is effective as the cunning Anne, whose sharp wits could not save her when she failed to fulfill Henry's dream.
Oscar was not the only honor bestowed on Anne of the Thousand Days. It also won Golden Globes and was nominated for British Academy awards and an American Cinema Editors award. For a complete list of nominations and awards, visit the awards page at the Internet Movie Database.
