Woman of the Millienium (Mediaeval Sect)
RMILKINS says:
Let's identify the most important woman of the millenium (mediaeval category) and put her on the pedestal she deserves. I would like to restrict the selections from AD1000 to AD 1600, just to set some goal posts. Any nominations outside the 1600 limit gratefully debated, and majority vote keeps them in the running or out! Obviously, death of a candidate pre AD1000 precludes them from this millenia.
Post your nominations!
Medieval Minutia
Leofric, earl of Mercia, was a powerful eleventh-century nobleman who allowed himself to be influenced to some degree by his wife. She took an interest in the support of monasteries and persuaded Leofric to found a Benedictine monastery in Coventry. It is unlikely, however, that she ever rode through the town naked.
She was Lady Godiva.
