Medieval Monarchs Quiz

Dateline: 11/10/97

This week I thought I'd have some fun. I surfed all over the net and plowed through a pile of books to find some interesting information about Medieval Monarchs. The result: this quiz.

There are 20 questions in all, covering 11 monarchs. Answer all 20 questions correctly and I'll put your name up here when the answers are revealed on Monday, November 24th. Be sure to enter your email address in the place provided at the end of the quiz.

You can find the answers to at least 8 of the questions (and possibly more!) by looking at the Net Links and Previous Features of this site. You'll have to find out which pages can help you for which questions.

The deadline for this quiz is Friday, November 21, at 11:00 p.m. Central time (that's midnight Eastern). I'm sorry, but any quizzes submitted after that will not reach me for "grading."

The Questions

All of the questions concern kings, emperors, tsars (or czars), and other leaders from around the world who had the sole governance of a nation, tribe, empire or city-state. All monarchs reigned sometime after the fifth century and before the seventeenth. Spelling doesn't count, unless the word is so badly misspelled that it becomes another word. But don't forget those Roman numerals! An answer must distinguish which King Henry.

The Optional Section

Below the test are some questions about the quiz. These are optional; you may of course skip them, if you like. But I would greatly appreciate it if you'd take the time to answer these questions.

I hope you enjoy the quiz. Please click here to start.
