John Calvin
John Calvin (in French, Jean Calvin or Jean Cauvin) was the leading Protestant reformer in France. He set forth his interpretation of Christianity into his work, Institutio Christianae religionis, which had an enormous impact on future Protestant thought. His philosophy and the social system he devised for Geneva would influence Protestant society elsewhere in Europe and in North America.
