Giotto di Bondone
Architect, sculptor, and painter, Giotto is considered the first artistic genius of the Italian Renaissance and has been called its "father." Although he was not as technically adept as the great masters, his ability to capture human emotion inspired later artists and marked a significant change in the artistic style of the age. His teacher is believed to have been Cimabue.
