Jane was a bright, sensitive, well-educated and devout young woman who was maneuvered onto the throne by her unscrupulous father after the death of Edward VI. When it became apparent that the people of England would not accept her in place of the rightful queen, Mary Tudor, she was removed and imprisoned, and later executed when her father became involved in another plot against the queen.
