Definition: Agincourt is a site in France where an important battle of the Hundred Years' War took place on Oct. 25, 1415. The English, led by Henry V and making good use of their archers, defeated the French, whose cavalry got mired in deep mud. The French suffered extensive losses and the English incurred only slight casualties.
As a result of his victory at Agincourt, Henry was able to broker a deal with France's king Charles VI that named Henry as the heir to the kingdom.
The Battle of Agincourt is depicted in Shakespeare's Henry V.
