The Garden of Eden

The subject of Adam and Eve and their expulsion from the Garden of Eden is not one that is ordinarily depicted in Books of Hours, and, indeed, this particular miniature was an inset page, inserted between two prayers to the Virgin later in the manuscript's construction. Eve is painted much like St. Catherine had been in the Limbourg's earlier work, the Belles Heures.
