Byzantine Places

Byzantium 1200

This project aims to create computer reconstructions of Byzantine monuments of Constantinople in the year 1200. The site has a vast selection of complete and incomplete models available for viewing. Very nicely done by Albrecht Berger and A. Tayfun Öner.

Mystra

Multipage site includes a history of the Greek city and lots of photos and background on interesting locations, including several churches and a castle. Very nicely done at the Laconian Professionals site.

Roman Byzantine Sites of Jerusalem

Graphics of places in Israel and information about historic individuals and daily life at the Jerusalem Mosaic. Also of interest: the Early Muslim, the Crusader, and the Mameluke Periods.

Medieval Rhodes: The Knights of St. John, Greece

Photos, portraits and heraldic charges highlight this three-page feature on the history of Rhodes and the Hospitaller Knights that made it their headquarters. Very nicely done by Michael Cook.
