Castles in Ireland

These sites explore Irish castles through photos and virtual tours.

The Castles of Dunluce and Carrickfergus

This page at the official site of the Northern Ireland Tourist Board offers a fine photograph and brief history of each of the two Irish castles.

The Castles of Galway

Patrick Larkin has a marvelous collection of photos of dozens of castles in Galway on several pages, each with a little info and unfortunately accompanied by unstoppable music.

Castle Salem

Nice effort to showcase what is now a B&B in County Cork. Website has some photos and some slow-loading videos as well as info for visitors.

Historic Irish Castles

Photos accompany background information for more than a dozen castles of Ireland; several also have QuickTime Video. Nicely done by James Moats.

King John's Castle

Very attractive page at the Earthlore site provides history associated with the castle as well as gorgeous images and new information learned from recent excavation.

Peel Castle Virtual Tour

A nice introduction accompanies the "clickable map"; click on the portion of the photograph that interests you to get a closer view and historical info. By Charles Guard.
