Pimbley's Dictionary of Heraldry

An Authoritative Guide to the Terminology of Heraldry

By Melissa Snell, About.com

Pimbley's Dictionary of Heraldry: An Authoritative Guide to the Terminology of Heraldry was first published in 1908 and remains a useful and accurate reference for heraldic terms. It is in the public domain, and you may copy, download, print and distribute the work as you see fit.

This online edition of Pimbley's Dictionary of Heraldry has been heavily cross-linked by your Guide. When a term is hyperlinked, clicking it will take you to the page where the definition of that term is given. You may then have to scroll down to find the particular term on that page (don't worry, none of the pages are very long). If a related term given in ALL CAPS is not hyperlinked, its definition is on the same page, and you need only scroll up or down to find it.

At the bottom of each page are navigational links to other pages of terms starting with the same letter as well as to the first page of terms for each letter. You can also return to this introduction by clicking on the "main page" link

Every effort has been made to present Pimbley's Dictionary of Heraldry accurately and cleanly, but no guarantees are made against errors. Neither Melissa Snell nor About may be held liable for any problems you experience with the text version or with any electronic form of this document.
