About the
Annotations
The annotations are James Ingram's; please keep
in mind that they are from the early 19th century, and recent
scholarship has revealed some of his conclusions to be inaccurate.
However, the notes still provide a useful guide to the intricacies
of the Chronicle.
The public-domain electronic text I acquired
had an error in the numbering of the footnotes; either a note from
Ingram's original text was left out or a number was skipped. I
have renumbered the notes to run continuously, and they may differ
from the 1823 publication, a print copy of which I currently
lack.
