It may not be a new millennium, or even a new century, but a new year is still a great time for history buffs to look to the past. So, in the tradition of Through the Centuries and Through the Centuries II, I bring you Through the Centuries III! This year's version focuses on individuals who made history in a variety of interesting ways. If you have frequented our Who's Who in Medieval History resource, you'll be familiar with nearly every name. The real question is, can you remember which century the individual flourished? If you're not a frequent visitor to this site, you may find this quiz particularly tough. But have no fear! If you miss a question, you get a chance to try again. If you get tired of guessing, you can ask for the answer and move on. The correct answers for nearly every question will include a link to more information about the individual here at the Medieval History site. Each link will open in a new window, so you can easily return to the quiz by closing the new window when you're done. Don't forget to bookmark any pages you find interesting! Remember that the ordinal number for a century is one greater than the numeric date; that is, the 1900s were the 20th century, the 1800s were the 19th century, and so on. If you find this confusing, put your mouse over the century you think is correct and check the status bar for the appropriate date range. I hope you find this a fun and challenging exercise in historical trivia. Good luck!
