Definition: A chronicle is an account of historical events, presented in the order in which the events took place, very like a timeline. The term has its origin in the Greek word for "time," chronos. The author of a chronicle is known as a chronicler.
Chroniclers often recorded events they witnessed themselves, during their own lifetimes, usually within a short time of the event itself.
Examples:
One of the earliest chronicles in existence, and probably the most famous, is the Anglo-Saxon Chronicle.
